ḤADĪTH OF THE DAY

“ Maymūnah said, "I prepared water for (ritual) washing for the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, so he performed the (ritual) washing (1) for the major ritual impurity (2). He tilted the vessel with his left hand [to pour water] over his right hand and washed his hands. He then put his hand in the vessel and poured water over his private parts. He then rubbed his hands against the wall or the ground. Then he rinsed his mouth, washed his nose by sniffing water then blowing it out and washed his face and his forearms. He then poured water over his head three times then poured water over the rest of his body. He then turned and washed his feet. (1) The ritual washing of the body, which is a prerequisite for the performance of some acts of worship. (2) A state of impurity that requires taking a full bath in order to perform certain acts of worship. ”

Sunan at-Tirmithiy

Abdullāh Ibn-Umar related that the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said, "Pray in your homes (1) and do not turn them into graves (2)." Footnotes (1): i.e. Pray voluntary prayers in your homes. (2): The whole surface of earth is a place for prayer; the only place where one does not pray is in the grave. This analogy points to the similarity between a house where prayer is not maintained and the grave. Click on ḥadīth to read more
